My name is Zackery Cervi-Skinner and I am in my sophomore year at Coeur D'Alene High School. I've played many sports in my younger years, including soccer, baseball, and downhill skiing. I developed a special love for running because it was something I could do while enjoying the beautiful Idaho outdoors with my friends and teammates. I started running with a club in 3rd grade, and discovered what it was like to be a part of a team and the bigger community of running. My twin brother and I have pushed each other to be better and supported each other when things were challenging. I also have learned to push myself and drive self improvement.
Running has taught me a lot about what it takes to be successful, not just on a track or cross country trail, but also in academics and other areas of life. I have become more disciplined with time management because of running. I am currently above a 4.0 student and our team earned all-state academic honors this year with an average GPA of 3.91. I wish to attend an academically strong 4-year university and am leaning towards studying a degree in business.
My running goals for the next couple of years are to help my high school team win a state championship. I would also enjoy competing at some of the more competitive national venues in both track and cross country. Longer term, I would like to run at the collegiate level and be a part of a dynamic and competitive team. I bring perseverance, passion, and determination and I look forward to continuing my running career.
