Personal Statement
The 2015 track season was my first year participating in track. In spring of 2013 and 2014, I played baseball. I have ran cross country since freshman year and after experiencing some success, along with some encouragement from my cross country coach, I decided to go out for track my junior year. That decision is one of the best I have made.
The accomplishments and success that I had during my junior year only made me hungry for more and my passion for the sport grew over the off season and my senior cross country season. This passion helps me in the classroom as well. My grades have always been above average and track has motivated me even more to keep them that way. I look forward to being one of the few members in my family to obtain a college degree.
I believe what makes me different from other athletes in this sport is that I have only been running track for one year. My cup is empty. I am new to this sport and while many others have a head start, I am willing to work as hard as necessary to achieve my goals. I hope and believe the ceiling for me is high.
