It is an absolute pleasure to be able to introduce myself! I am Jacob Sholl, a Senior at Illini West High School, and I am hoping to carry my track and field career onto the collegiate level.
I am primarily a sprinter, running the 100m, 200m and the 400m dash. I find different things to love about the three of them separately, so I don't necessarily have a favorite, just whatever my team needs from me that day, I will more than gladly do.
I have been extremely lucky to have been given the coaching staff I have had for 3 years here, and I attribute all of my success and winnings to them, for without them, none of it would have been possible. As a Senior-to-be, I am a 2x all-state track and field athlete, and a 3x letterman in the sport.
One of my more proud highlights of my time has been being team captain since my Sophomore year. It has been a great honor to be the representative of our team, and in those two years we have sent a total of 5 relays, and 4 individual events and placed 5th as team at the state tournament last year. I have always believed in leading by example, rather than words.
I am looking to run for a school that values hard work, success and self-discipline as much as I do. On top of that, I have had the honor of running for a coach who devotes his time and a large majority of himself in his coaching, so I can promise to any prospective coach that if you give me your time and hard work, I will you gladly give you mine, as well.
I very strongly value my life, health and the people around me. When I'm not running or training, I enjoy cooking, reading, movies, meeting new people and learning. At the moment, my major is undecided.
Freshman highlights: All conference, state qualifying 4x100 relay team
Sophomore highlights: Team captain, all state, all conference, 3rd place in IHSA 1A 200m dash, state qualifying 4x100 and relay teams
Junior highlights: Team captain, all state, all conference, IHSA 1A 5th place team finish, 200m dash state champion, 4th place finish in 100m dash, 2nd leg on state qualifying 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams
Senior goals: My team is strongly motivated to take home 1st place as a team, and my individual goals are to bring home a 1st place finish in the 100m, 200 and 400m.
I hope to hear from you!
