I am in my junior year at Lane Tech High School from Chicago, IL I am currently a member of the varsity cross country team. I am also the team's current #2 or #1 runner. My goals for the team are to win the Chicago Public Schools City Championship, win our IHSA State Regional and to qualify for the IHSA State meet. As of today, the team has accomplished all of those goals and are headed to State. Individually, I would like to break 15 minutes for three miles.
This track season, I will also be on the varsity squad. My goals for this track season are to run a 9:30 2-mile, and run a 4:20 mile outdoors . I would also like to qualify for the state finals in either event or possibly a relay.
I still feel the same about running as I have in the past. It continues to allow me to create a brotherly bond with my teammates. I can always count on them, as they can always count on me.During the off season, i take the time to recover for a few weeks, maintain my fitness through minimal fitness training, then get back into running condition by entering in local 5K races. I feel as though as running has become part of who I am, a culture point where I fit in with everyone around me.
I am still undecided about the right college for me. It would be great if I could continue running cross country and track at any college level.
