What makes you a good candidate for college track & field teams?
Track is a sport you can count on me on. I'm a very hard worker and take the sport very seriously as my coaches would say. Although I'm only a sophomore with still years to improve, I plan to help college track teams in relay races and to help the team get good times. I'm also a leader and like to help others in the sport as well. I help freshman or even upperclassmen who never ran track before and get them going on the drills our sprint coach has us do. I tend to be in the front of warmup lines with other leaders getting everyone warmed up also.
What makes you different from other recruits from character, athletics, and academics?
I'm normally a positive person around school. I'm never late to class, I take school work very serious as well as sports , and I'm very social with other people around school. I'm really goofy in class but it doesn't interfere with my work at all. For athletics, I started to sports at a late age (Mid 7th to 8th grade). Track last year was my first year ever doing track. I was 95 lbs and I was more of a quick guy than speed guy. I got ahead of my self, got cocky, and some meets I got burned in races. One meet , I ran 60 meter dash in 8 seconds! 8 seconds! That's horrible. My coach told me if I wanted to make state and take track seriously, I was going to have to hit the weight room and gain speed for next year. I'm currently 120 lbs and I'm running faster and quicker than I was last year which is good. I'm still going to be a relay runner and even if track season isn't here yet, I still have a month or two to gain more muscle and speed.
What are your collegiate goals?
I want to run track in college whether it's getting college scholarship for track or applying for a college and running track that way. I've always been a underdog. People know me as a good athlete but there were always people in my class that were better than me in sports. Getting a college scholarship would mean so much to me and it would tell me that the hard work has paid off.
