Personal Statement
The goals and aspirations I have for my collegiate career all began in my Junior year of high school. It was then that I realized my interest in Film Production. It was then that I also began to hone my running / racing skills in the 800m event. Why film production? ... because I'm a visual person who loves cinematography and loves to tell a story. Yes, I'm a story teller, and its my intention to find a college or university that can give me the training I need to develop these skills and help to make it a life-long vocation. Why run track? Why the 800m event? First, I love to run. The satisfaction of training for an event to reach my full potential excites me. When I set my mind to something - there's a good chance I will achieve it. Placing 8th in the 800m race at the IL State Meet my Sophomore year, and 4th in my Junior year puts me in a great position to reach my goal of running a 1:50 in the 2018 season. Despite that our school doesn't even have a track, and have limited races throughout the season, I am determined to make my Senior year one that I will have no regrets. Now that I have an experienced, private coach and we are pro-actively increasing my race schedule, I realize that my goal to be the fastest 1A 800m high school runner in Illinois is within my reach. It motivates me to know that my efforts in the 800m race can directly help me with my collegiate aspirations as well. It's clear by my grades, national honor society and recommendations that I have the smarts, attitude and work ethics to make a difference in both school and track during my collegiate career. And my two favorite things to do; the art of film and racing - make for the perfect formula to achieve my collegiate aspirations. Now, I only need to find the right college so that it will be a win, win, win situation!
