Personal Statement
I believed that for the most part, in running sports, your genetics mainly determined how well you ran. When I joined track for the first time during my sophomore year I believed this. By the end of my junior year the following season, I learned that to have good genetics helped, but hard work and practice were vastly more important. After that season I made the decision that I was going to do everything in my power to go to state my final year as a senior. Because of that decision, I decided to join Cross-Country and run distance as a way to push myself like never before. By the end of the season, I came to love the sport and learned valuable lessons.
Track has taught me the importance of hard work Cross country, on the other hand, taught me how to run until it hurts and then run some more. I know my stats as of now aren't amazing which is why I have started to train twice a day as a way to improve them. I plan to prove myself worthy of running at the college level this season, just keep an eye out.
