Josh Cotter Pole ...Personal Statement
I love to compete. For years before discovering Pole Vault, I was an avid competitor in basketball and soccer - playing at the highest levels for my school and club teams for eight years. I first discovered Pole Vault in seventh grade at a summer camp, and I loved it, but after qualifying for IHSA State Championships last spring as a Sophomore (14'), I decided that Pole Vault is now my first athletic priority. As a result, I've made the tough decision to forego high school basketball so that I can do both the winter and spring seasons of track. I've been working hard on strength, speed and technique in the off season so I can continue to achieve personal records this upcoming season.
I love to learn and compete academically as well. I have taken the absolute toughest course load possible at OPRF which means that my classes have been 100% honors -- including taking AP courses in my freshman, sophomore, and now junior years.
I am looking for a college where I can continue to compete both academically and athletically. I will bring dedication, work ethic and unparalleled enthusiasm to your program.
