Personal Statement
My junior year of cross country has come to a close. I improved a lot this past year - taking a full minute off my times at most races. I was named team MVP and was all conference, both for the 3rd year in a row. I also placed 3rd individually in my sectional which allowed me to race at state this year. Unfortunately, the race conditions weren't in my favor, with rain falling and wind blowing during the entire 3 miles making the course a muddy mess with 3 inches of mud in most places. But it was an excellent experience and I am hopeful to run the state course next year, only also bringing my team along to join me. Overall it was a very successful season, with 3 first place finishes, 7 top ten finishes, and received top 25 medals at 10 of my 11 races this year.
Last track season, I started to see major gains in my training and finished with a PR more than 45 seconds faster and as 15th in state with only a few underclassman finishing ahead of me. I will be training hard this winter and am prepared for an even more successful track season. I'm excited to start competing and show what I can do.
During both my freshman and sophomore years, I was awarded the MVP of my cross country team and finished as all conference for the XC season with wins in several races. I was also awarded Prime Time Performer of the Week for Sports 1450 - an area wide sports station. In track, I competed at the state meet with a 15th finish in the 2 mile to complete my sophomore season. This year, I was also the cross country team captain which meant I organized summer runs for our team to get us in shape.
In the past 8 summers, I have run over 4000 independent miles. I am very self motivated and constantly looking at ways to be better.
