Benjamin Whaley '23 Recruiting Profile

In 6th grade, when I started to run, I was a completely different person. I first started making mental and physical changes to my routine in 8th grade. The results started to become promising once I got into high school after my first year, and I was now a Varsity athlete. The next year after my sophomore cross country season was plagued with injury after injury. I was able to put in some solid times over my sophomore track season however it wasn't enough to satisfy me. I am constantly challenged by others that help me to further my potential in the sport and outside of it. I strive to be the best leader I can as I am team captain on my cross country team, the Senior Patrol Leader in my Scout troop, and am working towards my eagle scout. The best way I can describe my goals is that I want to show those that don't believe in me, what I can do. My goals don't necessarily have a time on them, but I look more towards competing in and out of every day. My coach once told me if I compete with others, then the times will come. I look to further this progression wherever I go to college and I look to be a leader there as well.
