I just began running my Junior year and joined track for the first time, I began as a jumper and sprinter but half way through the season my coach needed me to run in the 4x800 and I ran an 800 for the first time in the relay. From then on I was in the 800 and 4x800. There was month left for me to train for the 800 event leading to the state tournament, I was able to run my sectional meet in 2:03 and got second by less than .1 seconds, then at regional i ran my best time of 2:01 with only running the open 800 a total of 5 times, so I feel I am nowhere near my potential yet. I ran cross country this fall for the first time to get an advantage in the 800 and ran a 17:02 on a Semi-State team. This winter I will begin extra training and races only designated to improve myself for the 800m race. My goal time for this coming track season is a 1:55 and to make it to state. I have only ran for about 6 months as of now since track started and I think that shows how much ability I have in running to become as fast as I am with such little training, I know going to run in college I will get all the training I can take and become the very best I can and maybe one day break 1:50 and be an All-American, I believe I have the potential to run at the Division 1 level even though my times are not quite good enough to receive a D1 scholarship, the fact that I have done this for only 6 months shows that I have what it takes to get there.
