Personal Statement

Hello Coaches,

Pole vault has been a major part of my life since I began my 7th-grade year. It is an exciting story about how far I have come since I began. I have been jumping in the shadows of other vaulters up until my sophomore year, which was when I realized pole vault was what I wanted to be known for. I began placing top 3 in every meet behind my school's senior vaulter. After being knocked out of sectionals by six inches, I began looking for a club/coach to help me get to where I want to be. Once I found a club, I began jumping whenever I didn't have football. Once football ended, I began jumping with my club every day that we had practice, usually 3-4 days a week. I began traveling to meets with my club and noticing how much better my coach and peers were making me. It has led me to make hefty goals for my upcoming high school seasons, which I believe that I can reach with my work ethic and my drive to make myself better every day.

I have been teaching the other vaulters at my school what I have learned and I get excited every day to watch them get better. I am hoping to find a school that will challenge me, both in the classroom and on the track. I know that I can bring the leadership and energy that every team needs. I am excited to see what the future holds for me, and I am determined to bring out the best in my teammates and myself.

-Alex Hasty

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
