Personal Statement
I am the son of a US Marine and when I graduate I will have spent ten years of my life living outside the US. I have lived in Korea, Okinawa, and I currently live in Stuttgart, Germany. I have lived a nomadic lifestyle that has allowed me to practice how to ADAPT, IMPROVISE, and OVERCOME many things. These are three phrases that are said in my house frequently because of my dad's job in the Marine Corps. Moving around every three to four years has taught me how to adapt to most situations. I've had to say goodbye to more people before I turn 18 than most do in a lifetime. This experience has taught me that in order to succeed I need to overcome some of the sadder aspects of being a military brat. I've learned that it's not enough to survive in my environment, but I must and will THRIVE in whatever environment I find myself.
I am in MuAlphaTheta Math Honor Society, National Honor Society (NHS), and Student to Student Ambassadors (S2S). I have also created and led several academic (mathematical and scientific) scavenger hunts throughout my school. The scavenger hunts began to increase in their popularity, which enabled me to get more teacher support and involvement with them.
As a sophomore, I was hand-selected by the coaches to be one of the team captains for both of my sports, Cross Country and Track and Field. I always strive to inspire and mentor to those around me, in both sports and in school. In Track and Field, I am a long distance runner and run the 1600m and the 3200m races. I was selected to the 2nd Team All-European Team for DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) schools in Cross Country. I was selected to the 1st Team All-European Team for DoDEA at the European Championships in the fall of 2019 as a junior.
I am the middle child, and only boy, of three. My oldest sister is currently a volleyball player in college for a DIII school. Athleticism and a good work ethic run in my family. I grew up going to Crossfit with my dad. He's a certified instructor and stays in shape for a living so it was natural that I would continue the family's athletic legacy.
In my spare time, I try to imitate the work of great comic artists such as Jim Lee, Todd Mcfarlane, and Jack Kirby. I am a huge fan of Marvel and DC films and comics. I really enjoy drawing and graphic artistry. I also plan on running cross country and track for my college or university. In the future, I plan on either going into engineering or biomechanics.
I am a certified scuba diver and have gone on some amazing dives, including diving with whale sharks.
