Personal Statement
My passion for sports started from a young age watching the FIFA 2010 world cup final and seeing all the emotion, passion and belief that the supporters had for their country was something simply incredible. Growing up I gave myself a goal of one day being able to represent my own country at the Olympic games, as an athlete with an interest in entering not only a career in sports but also in business I truly hope to achieve major success in either of my fields. Having competed in many sports, my main focus and passion is track and field more specifically sprinting, I specialize and compete in the 60,100 and 200 meters and 4*100-meter relay with my personal bests being 7.01, 10.86, 23.8 and 51.05. Achievement wise I am national Indian athlete who has successfully qualified and will take part in nationals, state and district championships this year. I am also an athlete that from the Kalimpong district in West Bengal , I currently own 4 school records across Junior Varsity and Varsity winning the Most Valuable Athlete twice in a row, I am also the 9thfastest u19 for the 200 meters across the U.A.E and finally going to compete in the Gothenburg Youth Games which is the biggest youth Olympics games. Blessings come in different forms and I believe mine was joining the athletics club Atheltesinschools which provides elite coaching which has shaped me into the man I man today.
I am fortunate enough to have been a part of the IB curriculum where I learnt how to face challenges with a positive mentality, which I consider has truly been a door way for me to discover my strengths and weaknesses as a person, the subject choices which I have chosen attribute to my wide range of skills which I believe will be highly beneficial for my sports management degree course.
During my free time I take it upon myself to coach the u14 and u12 football team, my duties are that I am present for all of their training sessions and matches whether they are internal or external and that I organize the training session so that they are able to compete the next day. By coaching the school football team, it has taught me to be organized and patient and has forced me to adapt my conversational skills in order to communicate the information efficiently which is a vital skill needed in order to be successful sports management. In order to develop my coaching skills even more I have done my FA level 1 futsal course and am currently doing my level 1 athletics coaching course making me a vital asset to any coaching platform as not only am I am athlete specialized in track but also having extensive knowledge in how to perform successfully in both.
As well as being a very competitive athlete I am also a successful musician possessing the ability to play 4 different instruments such as the clarinet, piano, drums and singing. Having done major exams in all 4 instruments such as an ABRSM Grade 5 exam in both clarinet and piano, Trinity grade 4 in drums and finally a diploma exam in singing. In addition to all of the exams that I have completed I have also in major music competitions such as the Young Musicians of The Gulf, Gems Aspiring competition of the year and also performing in the Symphony of love for the minister of happiness.
Last Summer and Winter I went to japan to develop my coaching skills even further and to develop as an athlete in track and field, whilst this being a big challenge that I faced it was also very exciting to be going to a completely new country with somewhat little knowledge of the language, in order to not only learn and embrace Japanese culture but to also help coach the young kids and help them develop as athlete using knowledge that I have gained from my experiences.
Something that I live by is the theory of Kaizen, which comes from Japan and is the theory of always improving and being better than what you were yesterday, yes there are people that may be smarter than me, stronger than me faster than me etc. But where I excel is having the belief, motivation and ability to put in the hard work when needed in order to overcome any challenge and be the best that I can be. I am extremely excited to be embarking on a new stage of my educational career and to utilize and make use of all the opportunities that I get to build upon my passion, love and skill for sports
