My running career cannot be defined by a race, or even an event, but rather by a culmination of lessons and experiences that I have gathered through my time in the sport. My running career started in 2009, the summer before I entered the fourth-grade. While I have no doubt that I have a passion for the sport, I'm at least partially convinced that my parents got me into running as a way of allowing me to let out some of my energy. Nonetheless, I haven't looked back since.
Throughout my career as a runner, I have been able to learn many lessons that I will carry into my life off of the field. These lessons are centered around perseverance, accountability, and sportsmanship. Whether it has been waking up at 4:40 every morning of the school week from August to November to bring underclassmen to practice, or building base mileage during the winter evenings, I have learned the value of working hard to meet the goals that I have set for myself. One of my goals, not only as a runner, but as a scholar, is to be a student-athlete at an academically rigorous college.
My promise as both a prospective student and athlete, is that I will do whatever is in my power to not only make myself better, but more importantly, make the team I am on the best that it can be!
