Personal Statement
I only have about 2 years experience, but I've been getting better and better each year. My first meet I started out running a 58.7 in the 400m dash. At the end of my freshman year, I dropped to a 54.8 in the 400m dash. My sophomore year I went 50.2 in the 400m and 2:00.49 in the 800m. I placed 9th at the National Junior Olympics. This year I’ve ran 49.03 in the 400m and 1:54.58 in the 800m. I hope to better my craft and hopefully go 46.9 in the 400m and 1:50 in the 800m by my senior year and break the Louisiana high school record in the 800. I am a very hard worker and wish to run track at the collegiate level. Also, I come from the #1 ranked high school academically in Louisiana, Benjamin Franklin, so my education is a huge priority for me. I think that it is very beneficial and helps me stand out from the rest within track and field. Unlike most, I try to use education and learning to master my craft. I actively listen and engage with my coaches, read books, and watch videos trying to perfect my technique and better myself. I love the idea of improvement; it's an indescribable feeling that brings joy to my life. The good thing is that since I've only been running for 2 years, I have much to improve upon, which is why I would love to run in college.
