I'm Lucas Sun and currently, I am attending the Class of 2023 as a freshman at Bangor High School, ME. Growing up, I was never a standout in anything, especially sports, so I decided to change that. Entering middle school (William S. Cohen MS), I started focusing more of my efforts on getting healthier and what better way to do that than running? I started my running career in 7th grade, joining both the cross country and track teams. I didn't do very well in either sport, but I kept working, especially after I noticed I had more promise in sprinting than distance. 8th-grade year, I became team captain (or one of them) on both teams and scored points for my team through the 200m and 4x100m relays. Recently, I set many personal records during my freshman year indoor track season, with a 25.92s for 200m, 7.29s for 55m, and a hand-timed 12.6s for 100m.
Throughout my career so far, I've always thought of my team as a second family. That's what motivates me to work even when I think I can't work any harder. I aspire to continue on my efforts throughout high school and hopefully be able to one day win an event for my team and my fellow teammates.
