Personal Statement
Dear College Coaches,
Ever since I stared running and competing, I have found out that I am able of accomplishing things both in running and in school that I never thought I would be able to do. Distance running has become my life, I live and breathe distance running. I have never had great finishing speed so the longer the event the better I run. I am around 5 foot 8 inches and weigh about 135 pounds. I run every day ranging in distance from 3 to 20 miles. However I know that to keep running I have to do well in school, so I also put a lot effort into my school work as well, and I earned All-Academic honors last season in cross-country. I have been running for many years but only in the last two have I started to compete. I am generally a quiet person, but I try to lead by example. I also work very hard at becoming a better runner and I give my best effort at every time. It angers me that a mediocre performance can win a race and a great performance can lose one. I hate it when a great talented runner sits back in the field and then sprints past every one who is giving their best effort and then wins the race. In my opinion thats stealing. When I run, I push my self to the limit and then past it and although I might not be the fastest or most talented runner on the starting line, I am one of the most mentally tough runners and know how to beat the other runners in my pac, and I hate losing. In college I want to continue my passion of running and competing. I know I am not a Division I kind of runner or the next Jim Ryun or Steve Prefontaine, I just want to be me and compete at the highest level that I am capable of no matter where the University is located. However in school I have always found my sciences classes to be the most enjoyable. Also I live on sheep farm and work very hard in agriculture as well. I would like to study animal science or biology while at school because the chances of me becoming a professional runner are not likely. So I do not really care where the university is, but I would want that university to have good science programs. I hope this gives you a better understanding of who I am and what I want to accomplish.
Thank you for your consideration,
Kyle Baubonis
