Hello future coaches! I have big plans for myself as I am currently ranked in the top 10 of all incoming seniors in the 100 and 200 meters in the state of Maryland. Although I didn't run the open 400 last outdoor season, I did run in the 400 relays and my performances were really strong. In the 400m relay state semi's, when I got the baton, my team was in 3rd place and I was able to overtake everyone and we won. In the Maryland 400 relay state championships, when I got the baton we were a distant 5th place and I was able to overtake everyone and we went on to win the state championship. I believe in this particular race, I showed all of my grit and determination as I had to fight my way to the front from far behind, running against some truly gifted athletes. This year, I also played Varsity football. Not playing football as a underclassman was my choice as I opted to focus on track. I caught the football bug this year and wanted to play so I did. Because the football coach approached me to play right before the season, I had to learn the plays on the fly. Because of this, early on, my playing time was limited. As the season wore on, my number was called more often. When I did get the chance, I made the best of my opportunities and made an impact. With limited playtime, I still had three touchdowns on the year, many solo tackles on defense, and by the end of the season, most teams avoided kicking the ball to me on kick off returns. Please note that I played youth football for many years before high school and I have a bunch of highlights on youtube. I humbly ask anyone who reads this to please watch my highlight videos because they show my determination and grit. I never give up. Growing up for me wasn't easy, my parents separated when I was 10 years old and got divorced in my freshman year of high school. I was only 14 years old at the time and it affected me. My transition to High School was difficult and I didn't run track my freshman year. In my sophomore year, I grew 8 inches and had to deal with growing pains. Because of this, I was injured during the first meet of the outdoor season with a partially torn hip flexor. The Doctors said it was because of my rapid growth. Since then, both of my parents now work together to support me both academically and athletically and my grades have only trended upward. I made the honor roll last marking period and I intend to do the same again. I haven't looked back since and I had a strong Junior year and I am looking forward to a strong and dominant Senior year. Although track is my first passion, I love football as well. please note that I am also a good basketball player. I played on high level DII AAU teams that have solidly place top 10 at the nationals. In closing, because of my experiences, I want to mentor and inspire young kids who are looking to run track and field or play football. I know young people need positive role models and someone other than adults to talk to. I feel I can help and make a difference. I look forward to doing great things! I am mature now and ready for college.
