Personal Statement
I began running when I was a freshman in high school and ever since then I have never stopped. My freshman year I almost broke 11 seconds in the 100 meter and 22 seconds in the 200 meter, since that moment I aspired to improve and drop my times lower and lower. To me being on a track team is a lot more than just a team it is more like a family that you work with everyday to achieve something greater than just individual achievement.
I have a decent start off the blocks and a strong kick at the end of every race. The last two years I committed to running cross country during fall and quit playing soccer just to improve my strength and endurance. As my teams captain I always lead by example and put extra responsibility upon my shoulders to ensure our success. I listen diligently to my coaches and put in extra work whenever the opportunity arises which has lead to multiple titles under my belt.
Running on the collegiate level is the next step in my life I want to take, not just for more competition but for more education. I would like to major in nursing because I have an innate need to help others and feel a sense of accomplishment when taking care of others. I am a hard working athlete and student and would like a college that can challenge me in both categories. I am open to all options but I would like to stay closer to home. Beyond everything else I would like to make my peers, coaches, and family proud of the man I am going to become.
