Athletics has been an important part of my life since I was 5 years old. I have had the benefit of playing Soccer, Basketball and Lacrosse. However; Track and Field has been the sport that I love and excel in. Through track I have learned what dedication, motivation and discipline is all about. I use them not only with Track and Field but also in my academics. It has helped me to be successful in the classroom and on the tack. During my freshman year I made Varsity but my times were not as good as the juniors and seniors and because of that I did not get to compete in many of the Invitationals and Relays. I know to achieve any amount of success you must put in the work. During the offseason I took to heart the three things that made me successful and applied them. I dedicated myself to getting better by asking my coach how I can be better and improve my times. When I didn’t feel like practicing I motivated myself to stick with it and plow on through while being very disciplined following the work out plan given to me by my coaches.
My sophomore year I saw great improvement and success in the classroom and on the track. I was able to help my team score points by winning my events. I became a team leader and competed in States while being selected as an All County 1st Team Sprinter. I plan on improving so that I can compete on the collegiate level for a University that values education, athletics, dedication, motivation and discipline.
