As a first generation college student, there are many aspects of the college process I am learning about. The Upward Bound program, a TRIO organization which provides first-gen students with the academic resources to reach their college dreams, has helped me every step of the way.
Coming from a financially unstable single parent household, I committed myself to excelling in the classroom so that I could help elevate my mother and improve our living conditions. I have learned to use the adversity in my life as opportunities to improve my character. The lessons I learned from my personal challenges have helped me develop a relentless work ethic. I apply 100% of my effort in everything that I attempt. Whether it be in the classroom or on the field, you can surely bet that I am giving every task the best that I have to offer.
For a coach looking for an athlete that is academically strong and a team leader, I would be a great choice. My involvement in various extracurricular activities has helped me develop my leadership and communication skills. As much as I like to see myself improve, I take pride in helping others achieve their goals. I am a team player and always looking for ways to help my teammates on the field or classmates in the classroom.
