Personal Statement
Having always been confident in my academics, my strongest performance in the classroom yet has been in my Junior year. With my older sisters already in college, I have become even more serious not only with my academics, but also realizing where my strengths are athletically. My first athletic passions were soccer and basketball, however arm injuries at age 13 and 14 left me questioning if these were the best fits. Heading into the Spring of Sophomore year, several friends who ran track encouraged me to join. Stressing the "team" aspect, and with my running and jumping abilities it became a perfect fit!
With track I have learned that personal goals are achieved through hard work and discipline. I also realized that success isn't how others measure you, its how you measure yourself. I have found that I could consistently push myself to achieve "personal bests" and have my own success while also helping my team.
Coaches, parents, and other mentors have always stressed that if you don't put in your best, you are only cheating yourself. I have come to embrace this philosophy and continue to push myself every day in both the classroom and on the track. I look forward to a great college experience that will challenge me to my very best in the classroom and on the track!
