Personal Statement
I have a gift not many people have. I make my dreams turn into reality through determination and perseverance. Limits are just ways to deter people from challenges, and I don't have any. Most of my experiences in life have been enveloped with the task of proving others wrong and raising their expectations for me. I’ve had to overcome discouragement from others trying to tell me I can't achieve the goals I have. In addition, fighting self-deprivation is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome, because mindset is everything. I set my own standards and don’t let others influence them or let them knock me off my path. Every state or divisional race I run, I realize what it takes to compete at a high level. I understand I belong here, and I’m willing to work harder than anybody else. Along with my high drive for personal success, I will help my teammates achieve their goals by either helping them train and provide emotional support. My academic goals are equally important and I am determined to excel in biology and chemistry. I want to take advanced biology classes in college, and apply to medical school. I want to succeed in all endeavors, both on and off the track. I know my dreams are hard to achieve, and many on the same path have given up—but I refuse to let my dreams be deferred, and am willing to put in my 110% to make them my living reality.
