Running track at the Collegiate level has been a dream for me since I started running my 7th grade year at Armstrong Middle School. Watching runners like Tyson Gay, Usain Bolt, Michael Johnson, Micheal Norman, Justin Gatlin, and more inspired me to want to be the best I can be in the sport! This year, in the 2017-2018 school year, we were regional champs in the 4x200m, I placed 3rd and qualified for states in the 800m with a time of 2:00.91. I then became Flint Metro League champion in the 800m by running 2:00.1. At States we were All-State in the 4x200m getting 3rd place by 9 hundredths of a second. Then at states I got 16th running the 800m in 2:02. I believe that I'm a great candidate for your team because, I'm always ready for a learning experience or opportunity about the sport. I'm determined to figure out all the pros and cons about running to make myself the best runner I can be. I'm a team player, who is constantly encouraging and supporting others, sharing my knowledge of the sport with my peers and the younger crowd. I can take constructive criticism to improve my performances and to broaden my knowledge of running the events that I do, and I work very hard to invoke the form or the changes that my coaches want me to, to gain improvements! I am in the National Honors Society, and I'm on Student Council. I take AP/Honors classes and I have a 3.822 GPA and I'm in the top 7% of my class. Academics are a top priority for me, since at any time I could get injured and never run again, but I can always rely on my engineering degree to give me a career in life! Thank you for taking the time to read my statement, have a wonderful day, or night!
