Personal Statement
My name is Riley Traver and I am a junior at Hartford High School. I have ran track since middle school, however I grew up at the track watching my older sister compete. Watching her high jump, long jump and sprint and be successful at her sport showed me what hard work and dedication can accomplish.
I have a good moral compass and a strong work ethic. I'm not afraid to try anything. To reach the point I'm at now, I've had to work on my sport outside of our regularly scheduled practices. I'm very coachable and know I need my coaches to help me achieve my goals.
Outside of track, I place a strong importance on my education. I'm currently 6th in my class with a 3.79 GPA. As a member of NHS I see myself as a role model for both my teammates and classmates. I've shown you can be successful both on the track and in the classroom. I also enjoy being a member of our senior band. I was section leader this year for the saxophones and was just recently selected as drum major for my senior year.
Fun fact about me: I harvest tart cherries in the summer! For about 14 days, we work 12 hour shifts. Our harvest crew has people that don't speak English, yet we're working together, figuring things out, to accomplish a mutual goal - TEAMWORK!
