Personal Statement
Family is one of the most important aspects of my life. I believe that a person should be apart of a family in whatever they do. That being said, family is not just blood relation. It is a connection through shared passion, trials overcome, success achieved, and failure endured. I have found that a track is an amazing sport in which to find family. This has fueled my love for the sport and for running from a young age.
Track has been, and continues to be, a great way to grow as a person. It has pushed my comforts and limits to help me better myself and those around me. It has strengthened my resolve, work-ethic, social skills, and leadership abilities. Being named a captain in my sophomore year jolted me into a position where I had to lead my fellow runners, and in some cases, more experienced runners. This helped expand my social skills of working with people who are experienced, as well as working with beginners. I am saddened that my junior season has been halted, due to COVID-19, after just one week. I am hoping that it will resume, but with how serious the state of Michigan has become with social distancing, I fear it will not.
