Since the age of four I’ve always loved running. I ran my very first 5k at that age. In 6th grade I started running cross country and track competitively. This passion started with my parents. My dad ran at Northern Arizona University, in which he and his team ran to a 2nd and 4th place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. My mom earned All-State in cross country and track in highschool. They have guided me along the way and helped me to start my running journey.
As a Sophomore I have already earned All-Conference twice, All-Region once and All- Area Twice. My team has also qualified for the Michigan Division 1 State Cross Country Meet in 2022 and 2023. As a sophomore in cross country, I have run 16:21 in the 5k. As a freshman in track I have run 2:04 in the 800 and 4:42 in the mile. I am very determined to improve my times and grow in any area of the sport that I can. I know there's always room to get better and I am willing to work toward that next fastest time.
During the off-season I run consistently with my teammates, knowing they can help me improve and I can help them as well. Whether it’s running in the summer at 7:15 a.m. or if it’s running by myself late at night, I will put in any work I can to get better and to be able to compete at the next level. However, It’s not all about just running, I also eat well so that it will help my body to get up and stick to the grind. I have positive mindset knowing that whatever work you put in, you’ll get back on race day. I am more than determined to work toward achieving these results athletically.
In my school life I work hard and strive to be the best student that I can be. I have a 3.7 GPA and I am continuing to challenge myself to improve it. I am in Honors Algebra 2 due to advanced placement in math since 6th grade. I have been academic all conference for cross country in 2022 and 2023 as well as for Track and Field in 2023. I volunteer at the youth basketball camps for Zeeland West High School and I am an active volunteer at The Foundry Church.
My dream is to run as a collegiate athlete in the NCAA. I want to become the best runner I can become and push others to be the best they can be as well. I hope to attend the college that helps me to be a successful student athlete. My high school goals are to be an All-State athlete in cross country and track. When I look back on my college career in the future, I want to be satisfied knowing I did everything I could to be the best runner I can possibly be.
