The summer before my freshman year of high school, my dad decided that I was going to be a runner. Because of my speed and quick-footedness that I had developed from playing basketball since the age of four, my dad figured that running would be the perfect excuse to get me off my electronics. From then on after, my summer was spent being woken up at the crack of dawn (eight o’clock), being driven up to the high school in my parents' sick ride (Volkswagen Mini Van), and running a bit more than a few laps around a basketball gym.
In all seriousness, the summer before my freshman year is where my passion for running began. In an effort to force me to spend time outside of the worlds of Call of Duty and Minecraft, my dad gave me an outlet where I could make goals and set myself up to successfully achieve those goals. I started as a freshman who was completely indifferent towards running. Four years later and I have become a seasoned runner; my times have consistently improved as well as my leadership abilities and persistence. In the wise words of lyrical genius, Drake, I truly, “Started from the bottom now [I’m] here.” Running quickly became my passion and turning my passion into a career would be better than any Victory Royale. I am confident in my abilities as a runner and I know I would make a great addition to your team in that aspect, but even more so I know that my unwavering persistence, work ethic, humor, and overall character would not disappoint you or your team.
I plan on serving a 2 year church mission directly after I graduate high school.
