Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Kwamivi Amedeya, and I’m from Atakpame, Togo. A small town located in West Africa. My family and I came to America in search of the American dream, much like most immigrants. However, it wasn’t all we had hoped it to be. For the past five years, my mother has managed to raise me and my sister by herself. But try as she might, there’s only so much she can do. Ever since we came to America, we’ve been a low-income family. As a result, we’ve had quite the number of financial limitations. However, this has not discouraged me from striving towards higher goals. I know what it’s like to come from nothing. That’s why I will stop at nothing to become something. To make something of myself, for me and my family. A college education isn’t something everyone has the opportunity to pursue. It certainly wasn't something my mother could do while caring for her two children. That's why if given the opportunity, I will work tirelessly to take full advantage of it. In school, I work to maintain a high GPA and on the track, I work to better myself and my teammates. I will stop at nothing to make my vision for both me and my family come to fruition.
