I have been running ever since I was 8 years old. I started out running with the Mount Olive Club team for a couple years until I joined USATF and started running with the state. In my first year with USATF I made it to championships for the 1500 and for turbo javelin. That same year I also made it to the junior Olympics for turbo javelin.
I am a very hard worker and I train year-round for track and cross country. Before a season I like to set a goal for myself to achieve by the end of the season. I set my mind to achieve this goal and I put a lot of work and dedication to conquer the goal I set. During the season I am always hard at work training and at races I give it everything I got.
In my first year running cross country with the high school I made the varsity team. My first 5K race I ran a time of 21:19. By the end of the season I was traveling with my team to the conference championships, sectionals and groups running times of 18:40. My coach, my teammates as well as myself was very proud of these accomplishments especially because I was our only freshman on varsity, who was running with juniors and seniors.
After cross country I decided to join the indoor track team in which I also made varsity. During the season, the event I was running was the mile as well as part of our 4x800 team. My PR coming into the season for the mile was a 5:30. After weeks of workouts and hard training, I ran a sub 5 in the mile with a time of 4:58. This was in the North 1 Group 3 Sectionals race. I also ran in the Morris County Champs meet and in the Group 3 Champions Qualifiers.
Overall I have had major success in my first year running with the high school and I hope to excel even more in the following years. I will work hard and train hard to become the best runner I can possibly be.
