Personal Statement
I am different from other recruits in one important way: I can always find more in myself to give. My freshman year, that meant qualifying for state in the 800m. By my junior year, I had learned and developed my ability to find more to give, and developed it further. That year, my goal would be placing top 5 in 4A New Mexico XC state. However, in the last mile, I had dug deeper than I ever dreamed possible, to build a near 20 second lead on the front-runner. Crossing the line was both the happiest and the most surprised I've ever been; winning the 4A New Mexico XC State Championship (in a PR of 16:06) was something I would have never believed possible. I have always been able to draw more out of myself, and I love the challenge of raising the bar. My main collegiate goal is to be a top-3 scorer on my team. I am a great recruit for college, because no matter how high the bar is raised, I know I will be able to surprise coaches by rising to the challenge.
