I have been involved in sports since grade school. My favorite sport in grade school was basketball. In Middle School I ran track and in the eighth grade I was selected by the Cross Country Head Coach Bruce Gomez to run for the High School Cross Country Team. I ran track and cross-country in High School. I also ran with the Cougar Track Club out of Albuquerque in the public school off season. I took various state championships in track while competing with the Cougar Track Club. I love to run and would absolutely love to run at the collegiate level at a school that appreciates it's runners!
I am very coachable and train all the time! I even compete in local running events and like to support the community by doing so. I work very hard when training and listen to what my coaches have to say. I also volunteer my time in helping Veteran sponsored events throughout the year and I am thankful for what they have done for us. I also encourage my younger brother to do well in sports and encouraged my older sister to join track and cross country.
I understand that my grades are very important for myself and my future and strive to do the very best that I can when it comes to schoolwork. I also took the ACT test early (junior year) in order to learn from my mistakes and will strive to get a better score.
I want to attend a college that encourages athletes and students. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. I want to follow in the footsteps of my older brother who received a full ride scholarship in cheerleading and graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Work. I also encourage my sister who just finished her first year in College and did extremely well. I think that College will make me a better person and I want to do great things for myself, the College I attend, and my community when I finish school.
