Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Logan Kempney and I am currently attending Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. At this time I am 5'7'' tall and weigh 120 pounds. I began running varsity cross country and track during my freshman year. In my high school career, I have already completed three seasons of cross country, one of indoor track, and I am currently completing my fourth season of cross country. During my freshman year my team and I won states. This was an experience that taught me how to work exremely hard. My freshman year at states I placed 32nd, due to running with a stress fracture. I still chose to run because I knew my team needed me, and I did'nt want to let them down so I decided to run. I have gone to states three times for cross country placing 18th my sophomore year, 8th my junior year and 3rd my senior year. I was also selected to run at Federations. I have also gone to states for indoor track in the 1000 meters. My fastest time that I have run for the 5k is 15:07 at the University of North Carolina. In my track seasons I have run a 4:25 in the 1600 meters, a 9:40 in the 3200 meters, and a 9:45 in the 3000 meter steeplechase. All through high school I have always has the dream to run in college and to lead my team to success. Although my ideal university would be located somewhere on the East coast near my family, I have not discounted those colleges located elsewhere. An excellent educational and athletic opportunity is much more important to me than the location of the college. I am open to schools of any enrollment size and division level, and am looking for a school with an academic program that can set me up for a successful future in the medical field. At this point, I am looking to major in nursing and physical therapy. My goal is to run on a team as an incoming freshman in order to maintain my competitive level and running base. In college I also hope to score for my collegiate running team in the attempt of winning a conference or national title.
