Personal Statement
2 years ago I joined the track team, not knowing that it would change me in such a way that I, a 206 pound boy, would stop playing Minecraft on the computer everyday... to a strong, athletic kid. In hopes of reaching the school record I have started building my body to accomplish my goals by working out everyday and eating properly. The past 2 summers that I have been in track and field my coach has let me use the schools disc in order to improve myself.... on my own. I have taught myself through endless hours of YouTube and with the help of my coach, who may not be an expert but always gave me the support I needed to do my best. With that I've been able to reach 120 feet and help teach the throwers of franklin central school the challenge of the sport. I try to practice every day that I can. This past summer my parents knew my commitment was real and gave me an opportunity to go to Rhode Island and participate in the Bill Faulks throws camp. It taught me so many fundamentals that I could not teach myself.... and to think I was excited for 60 feet my first year. To me discus is where I can be myself and show people, and myself, what I can do and what my potential is. This is a sport where I belong.
