I taught myself how to vault my Freshman year of High school. At the end of that year I PR'd at 8ft. That summer I drove up to training because I was determined to be better. My school record in the Pole Vault is 12ft 6in. My goal for my Sophomore year is to reach at least 11ft 6in. It may seem as a big step but that's what goals have to be sometimes. With no consistency in the time I can practice pole vaulting on the mats I am still determined to be the best I can.
Personally my coach taught me one thing other then running very well. The athlete with the most heart and the one that is most willing to put in work is the one who will succeed. That is what I am an athlete and student who wants to succeed and be the best I can.
