Personal Statement
2018 Junior year was my first year performing in indoor and outdoor track. I originally started cross country a few years ago to get in shape for lacrosse and basketball, but have found running to be my true passion. During indoor track, I was the Wasaren League champion in the 1600 meter and 1000 meter, as well as Section 2 champion in the 1600, and second in the 1000. In outdoor track, I qualified for the Eddy meet in Schenectady NY with a time of 4:30 in the 1600, cutting 13 seconds off my old time as well as the 800. My time has improved with each race. On May 16, I was the Wasaren League champion in the 1600 (4:36) and in the 800 (2:03) on a very windy day. May 24th 2018, I won Sectionals in the 1600, qualified for the NYS qualifier, in the 1600 and 800. June 1st, I won the 1600 NYS state qualifier and will be moved on to the State championship. This race was tough as it was 88 degrees at race time with 70% humidity.
What sets me apart from other recruits is my strong work ethic and my drive to succeed. I am a National Honor Society member, have received the Presidential Excellence Award every year since 9th grade, and am an accomplished cello player. I am a team player and very coachable. I am new to track and field, but have accomplished much in a short time. My coaches believe I have great potential.
My ultimate collegiate goals are to be an academic All American, and run in the Division 1 National championship.
