Personal Statement
As a strong academic student and three-sport athlete, I hope to find a school that challenges me both academically and athletically. At this stage, I hope to study business and become an entrepreneur. I hope to have the opportunity to pursue this kind of study at a university where I can also pursue my goal of becoming a top NCAA Division I 800-meter athlete.I believe I would be a positive addition to any track team not just due to my personal athletic goals, but due to my ability to connect with other team mates and encourage them. Whether playing basketball, soccer, or on the track, I have always been able to lead a team by encouraging each and every team member. I also believe a college-level track team might use me in other races since I have done well in the 800-meter run (2:00.8) 400-meter run (55.3), and the 1600-meter run (4:53), and as a team player in relay races. My athletic goal (to be a top 800-meter runner in New York, a top runner in NCAA Division I, and perhaps qualify for Olympic trials) I truly believe to be achievable due to my 2:00.8 official time in the 800-meter run as a high school freshman. I ended my 8th grade year with a personal best time of 2:17 in the 800-run. By the end of my freshman year, I dropped 17 seconds. What helped was my being coached well and being invited to various high school invitational meets, all of which I placed in the top three places. At these meets and in these races, I learned strategies of running the 800-meter run well. My goal during my sophomore year is to run the 800-meter in a time of 1:55. My junior year goals is to break the 800-meter school record of 1:53. And I hope to be a 1:50 runner by the time I graduate and join a college team.
I also strive to do my best in the classroom, so I believe I would also be making my college or university proud of my achievements in the classroom. As much as I enjoy competing, I also very much enjoy learning about the world we live in.
