It was in the Ohio State Track and Field Championships of my sophomore year when I realized that I don't want to let anyone of my teammates down ever again. It was during the 4x200m relay when I realized that practice and working together is so important. I was the anchor for my teams relay and the only sophomore the rest was senior. So coming into state I didn't think nothing of it and how big of a deal it was for my teammates. As the third leg of the relay was coming in with the baton and hit the mark for us to start our exchange I grab the baton and as I pulled my arms forward after the exchange the baton flew in the air and hit the ground. I picked the baton up and we finished dead last. As I walked back to the tent looking at all the faces of my teams mates realizing what I and done and seeing the depression in their eyes I walked away from the tent and cried so much and that's when I realized that I have to work hard every single day. I have goals to go after my school records in the 100m, 200m, 400m,and LJ then after that go after the state records in the same events. I will be a good candidate because I will work hard and I know what it takes to get there it's a sacrifice day in and day out and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to become the best athlete I can be.
