Personal Statement
Each year that I participate in track and field my love for the sport grows. My marks in the shot put and discus continue to improve and with each new PR I strive to push myself even more. I give credit for my success to my high school throwing coach, Rick Maag, because he knows exactly how to motivate me to do better.
As of the end of my sophomore year in high school, my PR in the shot is 52.25ft. and the disc is 160’9”. I have participated in AAU track and field for the past three summers. Each year I have qualified for the national AAU meets and therefore I have been able to compete against the top athletes in the nation. Because I am able to compete with this caliber of athletes, I know that with my continued work I will be able to compete at the collegiate level.
My goal in life is to be a nurse. In high school, I take college preparatory classes to be ready for the next level academically. I participate in three sports, (track, football, and basketball), have a part time job, maintain good grades and spend quality time with my family and friends. I have a life filled with many positives.
Well, end of my junior season and looking back, things went very well!! I finished 3rd place in the OHSAA state meet in discus and 4th place in the OHSAA state meet in the shot put!
I AM still looking for that one school that will offer me a great education in Nursing as well as a chance to compete in Track & Field at the next level!! My GPA and ACT have been posted and I am just waiting for that one school who wants a GREAT student/athlete!!
