Personal Statement
I love to compete and have participated in sports for many years. If you had asked me a year ago, I would have considered soccer my main sport. My love of soccer is due to the team aspect of the sport, especially having the ability to make opportunities for other players to score. My many years of playing club as well as high school soccer and having some of the best coaches in town have developed me into a strong strategic player that looks for the play before it develops on the field. But I wanted to try running track when Covid shut everything down. I worked hard on conditioning over that period of time and came back for the indoor 2021 season strong. I started getting my times where they need to be and even qualified for the State indoor final in the 60m. with my PR of 7.05. With my confidence up, I really started working on my form out of the blocks and had a great start to the outdoor season in my first ever 100m with 11.0. I continued working on technique and won the 100m and 200m in the OCC League. I ended the season qualifying for the Regional finals running PR's of 10.89 in the 100m and 22.35 in the 200m and running anchor on a 4x100 that had a top state time. For only having 1 year of track under my belt, I was pretty excited about my progress, but like anything - there is always room to get better! I'm also learning the individualized responsibility of track and having myself to answer to. I am a hard worker when it comes to academics and even harder when it comes to sports. I want to be apart of a team that is like a family and have a coach that will teach me to be a better person as well as a better athlete.
