Personal Statement
I initially joined Cross Country and Track for the first time my Sophomore year, and although I did not make varsity, it motivated me to put more effort into running. By my junior year, I shot up to the second runner on my cross country team and allowed us to qualify for the state championship. Losing the state championship my junior year and having our Track season cut short due to COVID-19 has been a significant blow, but these two events have deepened my love for running and allowed me to see that I have to continue running regardless of what is happening to develop the speed required to run at the college level.
I am constantly being challenged and supported on my team by people who share the same passion for running as I do. I am a first generation student-athete, child to immigrant parents, and I am at the top of my class. I value education and assure you grades will not be an issue as I am taking three concurrent college classes on top of the classes I take at high school. In addition, I am Vice-President of my student council and possess leadership skills that I can utilize in school and on the track. I am also the owner and founder of Cake by Jesus in which I make cakes and other desserts from scratch. My goals for college are to be accepted into a challenging program where I am able to study Biology, Nursing, or Culinary Arts and run at the college level. I believe that I can positively impact your program with my skill, work ethic, academics, and goals, thank you!
