Garrin Blaylock '19 Recruiting Profile

Following academics and making sure my ACT scores are fit to scale, I aspire to be one of the best to come out of Oklahoma for running. Staying steady in constant action in practice and in school I am always finding a time to run and make myself better. Being a state record holder has been on my mind since freshman year and to this day that image of holding the state record is still there. I have been pushing and striving towards it and I have only gotten closer. I am a team leader, I have started with small groups of runners for a team and stepped up to get more runners out to make a better team and have always been successful at doing this. My Sophomore year, and first year, or cross country there were only 3 guys running on the team the first practice. By the time season started I had recruited enough for a varsity and JV team. Pushing them to strive for greatness we were the first male team in my schools history to go to state. We then finished fourth out of 21 ending on a high note for the season. I love being able to step up and make sure people want to be there and want to work, then i push them towards what they are driving for. I plan to be the same way on the collegiate level, pushing my teammates to make them better. Also bettering myself and settling for nothing less than the gold.
