Hi Coaches,
At the end of my freshman year in high school, I decided to make a big change in my life. After 10 years of playing baseball, I made the move to track and field and haven't looked back since. I've always had a strong interest in Track and Field, having been to many Track Meets at Hayward Field including two Olympic Trials, so the switch seemed natural and very exciting.
Something I love about track and field is being able to achieve personal goals, and to see improvements in my marks. With more off-season training (joining a thrower's club) I am confident I will continue to attain new PRs. Additionally, I've set a goal to be a competitive collegiate athlete.
I work just as hard in the classroom as I do on the field. Not only do I have a rigorous academic schedule, but I also strive to achieve a 4.0 GPA. Teachers and coaches alike value my integrity as a student and my respectful nature. I have attained "Scholar Athlete" status all three years in high school which includes community service, high GPA, and sport participation (soccer, basketball, and baseball/Track & Field). Something I value is having a community and global perspective. I've participated in numerous community service projects, including building a tiny house for a homeless camp, serving marginalized people in Las Vegas, and will be traveling to Puerto Rico in June for hurricane relief work. Additionally, I spent 3 weeks in Germany as an exchange student last summer.
What sets me apart from other athletes is my passion, intensity, athletic IQ, and dedication to academics. I hustle. Always. I may not be the best player on the field but I give 100% effort. I have won several awards from both coaches and peers including a "Grit and Determination" award from my varsity basketball coach, Player's Player from my soccer teammates, and Junior Varsity MVP my first year in Track and Field. Through my effort, I am able to pump up my teammates, coaches, and fans. I am highly competitive and like to win, while also learning how to work through disappointment to be able to move on to the next game.
I am looking forward to the process of improving at my sports, and the process of finding my right fit for college and athletics. Thank you for considering me.
