Personal Statement
I starting running back in fifth grade from my local CYO cross-country team and I soon fell in love with the sport. In seventh grade I began running spring track at my middle school. I soon dropped my other sport to fully dedicate myself to running. I began my high school career freshman year running cross-country, winter, and spring track, earning varsity letters in each. Each year I have been consistently improving to the point where I am now one of the top runners on my team. Last season in cross-country I finished first for our team at both the league and state championship races. Next year I look to break 16 minutes in the cross-country 5k, help the 4x800m run at states in indoor, and run individually in the open 1600m in the outdoor state championship. In my junior year I was a captain of the cross-country team and I will be a captain for next season. I am also looking to become a captain for the distance part of the track team. Next year as a senior leader I am going to help many of my teammates reach their full potential while I also look to greatly improve.
