Sports have been a part of my life ever since I moved into the home I’m in now. I tried out just about everything to find friends, I finally settled with soccer. There I was put in defense, from that position I learned what it means to play on a team, what it means to make sacrifices and how to be a leader. All of this engraved into me from an early age. I also discovered at this point that I was fast, fast to the point of my job being to clean up anyone that got past the defense and sprinted for the goal. Seldom did they ever shoot or score for that matter.
A few soccer moms decided to talk my mom into trying out for soccer. I knew I wouldn’t make it but I did try my best to show the coaches what I had. In that room where I was told I was cut, one coach told me I should try track and field. He was blunt with me and told me my ball skills weren’t the best but my speed was amazing. I joined the middle school track team and found my place in sprinting and jumping. Entering high school decided to focus solely on jumping.
My aspirations to continue on to college track and field strive to more than just my love and passion for the sport. It’s also a way I hope to help pay for college along with academic scholarships, which is why along this journey grades have been -slightly- above track.
If you have any questions about me personally I’m more than happy to answer them.
