My name is Spencer Martin Lane. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. During my Freshman year of high school, I accomplished my goal of getting into the Meet of Champions. To get this, I had to get a time of 9.14s for the 60m hurdles. This was impressive for somebody so new to hurdling. I made the Meet of Champions for two years in a row and now have a new personal record of 8.95s. In my Sophomore Spring Track season, I did better on the 300m hurdles and focused more on them. With a time of 40.8s, I missed the district time by one tenth of a sec.I was disappointed with this outcome, however it has given me the drive to keep working hard on my skills. My goal for my Junior year is to make it into districts.
I’m not only somebody who is good on the field, I also possess strong leadership skills in our school community. There is a program at my school called Link Crew. It helps incoming Freshmen with getting to know the school. Link Crew is all about establishing positive relationships for the whole year, creating opportunities for mentor-ship, and improving school culture. I am proud to say that I was chosen from a large pool of applicants because I have been identified as a person on campus who is a positive role model, responsible, possesses leadership qualities, is kind and, most importantly, has a desire to give back to my school community. I will be donating my time to help the Freshen settle in to such a big high school.
I am looking for a program that will be a strong fit for me academically as well as athletically. I hope to enter the field of Sports Medicine or Exercise Science to build upon my already strong athletic and leadership skills. I feel confident that my solid athletic and academic foundation and desire for consistent improvement would make me a great asset both on the track and in the classroom.
