My name is Aaron Buck. I attend Somerset Area Senior High School, in Somerset PA. The main reason I decided to pursue track and field is my dad. He has inspired me to push myself in everything I do both in sports and my entire life. When I lived with my mom in Ohio, I was really wasn’t influenced to do any sports. But I did sign up for cross country and track. I only did the high jump and the 200. I found that I didn’t really enjoy it because we weren’t coached and usually didn’t have much guidance. I also didn’t get much support from my mom. Once I moved with my dad my eighth grade year, I became motivated to be a better jumper than he had been. I signed up for football and track the first year that I lived with him. In football I was a wide receiver and defensive end and still play those positions on the varsity team. In track I did long jump, high jump, 4x100 and the 100 in junior high. Once on the varsity team, I changed to the long jump, high jump and the triple jump. I am a very friendly and easy going person, enjoy meeting new people and get along with just about anyone. I have a good sense of humor and try to be funny a lot. I do, however, know when it’s time to get serious. I know that I have a lot of natural ability in the jumps. I plan on augmenting with weight training and my work ethic that I got from my dad. I had to overcome a pretty big obstacles when my parents got divorced, and it sometimes makes my schedule a challenge, so I know how to handle myself in tough situations. My goal is to consistently make the honor roll, break two school records in the long jump and triple jump, and compete at the state level both indoor and outdoor in my junior year.
