Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations for athletics are simple: work hard, improve, and become the best I can be. I feel that my work ethic and willingness to to do whatever makes both myself and the team better are two of my best attributes along with my easy-going and quiet nature which make me easy to coach. I am willing to listen to and do whatever my coach(es) think will lead to the greatest success. I have been running track since I was seven years old and my father was also a runner and high school track coach so my knowledge of the sport has been cultivated for a long time. In general, I am quiet and somewhat reserved which makes it easy for people to get along with me and I like to let my actions speak for me. In school I always do whatever work I have to in order to succeed in the classroom and am never a problem for teachers as far as attitude or grades. So overall, my hard working and easy going personality, my knowledge of the sport, and my athletic ability all separate me from other recruits and almost always lead to successful outcomes in all of my endeavors.
Coach's Recommendation:
I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Jeffery Brown, who is a currently a student-athlete at Friends’ Central School. I currently act as the Assistant Director of Admission at Friends’ Central School as well as the Assistant Outdoor Boys Track and Field Coach, and I have coached Jeff during his entire Upper School career. Jeff is our best sprinter in the 100m, 200m, and 400m, and this past year acted as the captain for the team, leading the team to a 2nd place finish in the Friends’ School League behind a very strong Germantown Friends’ team. Not only is Jeff a gifted athlete, coming very close to breaking 11 seconds and 22 seconds in the open 100 and 200 this year, but he is also a spirited leader, finding innovative ways to motivate and support his teammates. As a senior, we are looking for Jeff to continue to be at the top of the league in individual events, and we will also look to having him be a key anchor leg in relay events that will compete at some of the bigger meets in the area.
Jeff would be an unbelievable addition to any track and field team. He is a hard worker during practice, a competitor during meets, and has a deep respect for the sport of track and field that comes out in the way that he treats coaches, teammates, and the competition. If you have any specific questions about Jeff, please do not hesitate to call me at 610-645-5035 or email me at [email protected]
Thank you so much and have a great day.
Cordially,
Dwight Dunston
Assistant Director of Admission
Friends’ Central School
