I started running track in the 6th grade when one of the coaches handed me a jersey and told me I made the team without even trying out. She saw me running at a 4-h camp and wouldn't take no for an answer. I have been hooked on running ever since. My PRs include 10:00.53 2 mile, 4:34.62 1600, 6:26.58 2K steeplechase, and 16:24.74 5K XC. Although those are my main events, I also have done the 400, 800, and am training to try the decathlon this season. My top goal is to be able compete at a collegiate level.
I am not afraid of hard work or training. I will do what is necessary to reach the goals I have. My favorite quote is "Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win" - Tom Fleming. I train to win on the field and in the classroom. I recently took the ACT and scored a 19, I plan on retaking it for a higher score and I have a 3.6 GPA. I am member of 4-H honors society (which I am active showing cattle, goats and public speaking), HOSA, Cherokee High School Athletic Training program, FFA (Chaplin), FP7 (First Priority), Heritage Lites (a community service project for the heritage association in town) and am a youth leader at my church. I am on the Varsity swim team at school and on a competitive swim team during summer months. All of this had made me a well-rounded athlete that will be an asset to your program.
